Project background

Even the best detection system is wasted if alerts are ignored. The client wanted a safety alert framework that reliably got driver attention at the right moment without being an annoyance.

Challenge

Designing tiered alerts that are distinguishable under real cabin noise, calibrating urgency so drivers actually respond, and avoiding habituation over time.

Approach & solution

We designed audio and haptic alert tiers with acoustic testing for distinguishability, and a policy layer that escalates only when events warrant it. The system tracks driver response and adjusts sensitivity if alerts are being consistently ignored in benign contexts.

Results & benefits

Alert effectiveness held up across vehicle types and cabin environments, and driver response rates stayed high through extended use rather than fading with habituation.
