Project background

Overhead water tanks in large premises and municipalities run dry or overflow due to manual management. The client wanted a reliable low-power monitoring system for distributed tanks.

Challenge

Operating on long battery life with no wired power, handling varied tank geometries, and providing useful alerts rather than just raw level data.

Approach & solution

We designed ultrasonic-based nodes with multi-year battery life, LoRaWAN backhaul, and a cloud layer that learns per-tank consumption patterns to predict refills and detect leaks. Alerts handle both low-level warnings and anomalous drops.

Results & benefits

Premises equipped with the system stopped experiencing dry-tank events, and leak detection caught several events that would have caused significant water loss. Battery life held up as designed across the first full season.
